And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou has found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? "Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him in Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Govenor, that shall rule my people Israel."

"And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David.)"

"Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined."

Matthew 4:15, 16
"The land of Zabulon and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up."

A Prophet

"Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

"Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world."

"For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you."

"Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold."

Priest like Melchisedek

Psalm 110:4

"As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever, after the order of Melchisedec."

"Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec."

"For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)"

Purification of the Temple

Psalm 69:9
"For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me."

John 2:17
"And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up."

Rejected by Jews and Gentiles

Psalm 2:1
"Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?"

John 6:66; Acts 4:25, 26
"From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him."

"Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen raged and the people imagine vain things? The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ."

Spiritual Graces

Psalm 45:7; Isaiah 11:2
"Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness; therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows."

"And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord."

Luke 4:18
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath annointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised."

Triumphal Entry Into Jerusalem

Isaiah 62:11; Zechariah 9:9
"Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him."

"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, the King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."

Matthew 21:1-10; John 12:14-16
"And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, Saying unto them, go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her; loose them, and bring them, unto me. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strewed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?"

And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold thy King cometh, sitting on an assís colt. These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him."

Betrayal by a Friend

Psalm 41:9
"Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me."

Matthew 26:15; Mark 14:10,21
"And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they convenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver."

"And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them. The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! Good were it for that man if he had never been born."

For Thirty Pieces of Silver

Zechariah 11:12,13
"And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. And the Lord said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord."

Trial and Crucifixion
Silence Against Accusation

Psalm 38:13; Isaiah 53:7
"But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth."

"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb so he openeth not his mouth."

Matthew 26:63; Matthew 27:12-14
"But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God." "And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly."

Vicarious Suffering

Isaiah 53:4-6, 12; Daniel 9:26
"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; Yet he did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Therefore, will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

"And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself; and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary: and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined."

Matthew 8:17; Romans 4:25; I Corinthians 15:3; Hebrews 9:28; I Peter 3:18
"That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."

"Who was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification."

"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures."

"So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but quickened by the Spirit."

Death With Malefactors

Isaiah 53:9-12
"And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore, will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath prayed out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors."

Matthew 27:38; Luke 23:40-43
"Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left."

"But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."

Piercing of Hand and Feet

Psalm 22:16; Zechariah 12:10
"For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet."

"And I will pour upon my house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shoall be in bitterness for him as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn."

John 20:27
"Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless but believing."

Insult, Mocking

Psalm 22:6,7,8
"But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach or men, and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him: let him deliver him."

Matthew 27:39; Mark 15:29
"And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads and saying, Ah, thou that destroyeth the temple, and buildest it in three days."

Offered Gall and Vinegar

Psalm 69:21
"They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink."

Matthew 27:34, 48; John 19:20
"They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof he would not drink. And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink."

"This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin."

Lots Cast for Vesture

Psalm 22:18
"They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture."

Mark 15:24; John 19:24
"And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take."

"They said therefore, among themselves. Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did."

Not a Bone To Be Broken

Exodus 12:46; Psalm 34:20
"In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof."

"He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken."

John 19:36
"For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken."

Burial with the Rich

Psalm 16:9; Isaiah 53:9
"Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope."

"And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth."

Matthew 27:57-60
"When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesusí disciple: He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed."

Resurrection

Psalm 16:10: Hosea 6:2
"For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption."
"After 2 days he will revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight."

Matthew 27:63: 28:6; Acts 2:27-31
"Saying, sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again."

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."

""Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption."

Ascension

Psalm 68:18; 110:1
"Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast lead captivity captive: thou has received gifts for men; yea, for the rebuilding also, that the Lord God might dwell among them."

"The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool."

Luke 24:51; Acts 1:9; Ephesians 4:8-10; Hebrews 1:3
"And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven."

"And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up: and a cloud received him out of their sight."

"Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he lead captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up for above all heavens that he might fill all things."

"Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high;"

What?

Please understand and develop the conviction in your heart that if the God of the Bible was interested enough in giving us a "preview" of Christís first coming and then the details of that same comingówhere they match perfectly, then why would we not believe in the rest of the promises that God makes?

"Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to TRIUMPH in Christ..."
